I wanted to wrap up a month of goal setting tips with a very important aspect of goal setting.

A reward for a job well done can be a great incentive. Of course I hear the opposite is also true. I have a friend whom punishes herself for not doing what she set out to do that week. If she fails to meet her goals she pays $100 to a group or organization she doesn’t believe in. So, I guess you need to know what truly motivates you.

For me it is art and red shoes… and sometimes both. Last year I completed the marathon within my time goal. I wanted a pair of red boots, but couldn’t find any so I bought an art piece called red shoes. Every time I look at it I think of crossing the finish line.

One of my rewards this year will be to hire someone to clean my house as long as I’m maintaining my numbers. I’ll keep you posted, but I’m extremely motivated to see this happen!

These rewards are not your “why” or “reason” for accomplishing your goal, but a bonus. A reward for the effort. The results will be your success!

Good luck and share with us some of your rewards…

Massage, pedicure, weekend away, new book, a night out, oh the list can go on and on!
